Remember the Aughts?
A bit of background:
- First computer is hard to remember – it might have been an Apple IIGS or a Gateway 2000 486 PC. It wasn’t mine of course, it was my father’s.
- I distinctly remember Harvard Graphics, surfing through thousands of arbitrary stock clip art and images. Printing them out on our inkjet printer, replete with black background, and savoring the smell of the wet ink on the soaked paper.
- My first Mac came in early 2002, an iBook G3, upgraded to the 40GB HDD and 384MB of RAM. I took it as read that the ATI RAGE Mobility 128 would be a serviceable video card and that the 14” version was a waste since it shared the same 1024×768 resolution.
- A suburbanite high schooler with ample free time, I was active on SpyMac in the early 2000s, wrote all of one article for MacTeens, and sat on a wooden bench in the Woodfield Mall to liveblog WWDC 20031, blown away by the satellite TV quality.
- Other than rudimentary Flash websites and short-lived blogs I can hardly re-read today through gaps in my fingers, A sizable non-Apple-blog related gap in the resume follows for the next two decades.
- Today? A lawyer in Minneapolis.
Much like owning $AAPL stock, this is probably something I should have invested in 20 years ago, but here we are now. Welcome.
